4 Any

1 Janet welcomed all present. Janet then asked if the minutes from the last committee meeting were a true record of that meeting – the committee agreed

2. Matters arising from the last minutes.

Tree Scheme

Peter Aldridge gave an update – there are no trees available at present after talking to Rob Hainsworth. Janet will canvass opinion from residents in Knights Way and Ashchurch Road to see what is wanted. There may be a problem with the drainage system (soak away) to consider. Thought 2 trees may be all that is required with no fruit trees.

The matter of ‘dog fouling’ in the area was again discussed. Julie gave an update – Clair Wright from Tewkesbury Town Council had been contacted about signs for the Newtown area, these can be collected from the town hall, and Sweets would erect them. It was thought that Ashchurch Road and back of Springfield would be the areas worst affected. Julie would ask for more signs for this area.

NACRA Newsletter – this was seen as very interesting and informative. The cost had been £80 and Janet gave a big thank you to all who produced it and delivered it.

Regeneration of Tewkesbury was next discussed – parking in Tewkesbury, Angela had not been to a meeting yet, and Graham Dawson would stand in if Angela could not make it.

Walton Cardiff Lane Play ground funding – nothing to report. (See report later)

Grass cutting in Shannon Way and Delta Drive – Julie had spoken to the County Highways dept who said it was not their responsibility, but would do something if views were restricted, but something had already been cut but rather crudely.

Drainage – Dave Witts had had a meeting with Tewkesbury Borough Council, Chris Pike and Bob Nightingale on 9th July. They stated that drainage was not a high priority with Tewkesbury Borough Council. Dave stated that TBC had put forward 8 projects for funding for agency schemes for drainage with only one to be auctioned on. He then stated that Cheltenham Borough Council had asked for 40 projects to be considered. Severn and Avon Flood Group had put some drainage suggestions forward for TBC to consider.

Vernon Smith report – Vernon was unable to attend the meeting and Dave Witts gave Vernon’s report in his absence. Start date for A38 work outside Morrison’s is 10th August. Pyke Road start date 24th – 28th August. Cycle paths, Green Lane to Morrisons planned during August. Ashchurch Road Storm water and road improvement being surveyed for 2010/11 budget. Northway Lane major drainage improvement to start autumn 2009. Vernon had received some information from TCllr Andy Smith about highway and cycle path condition around Northway and Newtown. Vernon stated that he would take these matters up with the highways team. Vernon went on to state that the funding for the Play Ground had been passed by GCC (£84K) and would BCllr John McCloy chase up when TTC would get the funding cheque for the full amount.

3 Tewkesbury in Bloom - NACRA has been invited to attend the welcome coffee morning for the judges on 28th July. Janet thought the flower bed helpers should attend. John McCloy and John Lucking would attend and it was hoped Barbara McCloy would also attend.

4 Any Other Business –

Signage - The Canterbury Business Park sign that is put out each morning from 9am till 5.30pm on the grass verge opposite the pub should not be there. Mr Geoff Lamley from TBC has been asked to remove it but not done so yet.

NACRA had given a voucher to the landlady of Strings on the occasion of her new baby.

Wetlands meeting – Janet would attend a meeting at Bishops Cleeve.

CCllr Mike Sztymiak had been invited to attend the meeting but unfortunately had a previous engagement and would try and attend another meeting.

Next NACRA meeting Monday 17th August at Strings 7.00pm
